Here is what I wrote once to a newby when he asked me what to do in the game ... I hope it will be useful!

develop your fleet ! If you are a

fleetsave - you choose an inactive
player to who you send your fleet
to lower speed per cent upload all
your resources and make sure that
your fleet and resources will be
back on the planet when you have

you want to send to a more-points
(i) player do an espionage just in
case
And if you are a turret player you
should keep your mines up build up
some Field Fighters to protect your
self from Pirates and don't develop
much your researches except those
