Which is better? Ship upgrade or Ship building?

A Guardian cost at 20K Metal, 7K Crystal
While upgrade it to lvl 3 cost another 40K Metal, 15K Crystal

Therefore 1 Guardian lvl 3 is equal to 3 Guardian lvl 0 (neglect the 1K crystal difference)

Definitely 3 Guardian lvl 0 will kill 1 Guardian lvl 3...
Definitely 300 Guardian lvl 0 will kill 100 Guardian lvl 3...

But then, why i'm i seeing so many people upgrading their Guardians instead of building more ships?

Am i right or am i wrong? I think I made a mistake..

Ermmm... It look like that that 20K Metal, 7K Crystal Lvl 3 Guardian is for building the Factory Guardian Lvl3...

Then how much will it cost me upgrading my Guardian there to Lvl 3?
And how long does it takes for 1 Guardian to be upgraded? for 100 Guardian?

Well ... I can only tell you that ship upgrading is EXTREMELY necessary ! You can see in the factory for each ship how does the structure and attack power increases with each level ! ! ! If you have 10 ships of one kind (and you don't think of building more of this kind) you won't need to upgrade their levels - it's just pointless but if you build up more (100,200 or more) it's strongly recommended (by me) that you upgrade them ! You see the upgrade makes stronger all your ships with some per cent (depends on the ship) and what is one ship ... When you build up a level and you have many ships, you like double your power, figuratively ! And what is one ship compared to upgrading the other 100 (or more) and makin' them stronger ... So think of it for a while

P.S. We have one guy here that has reserached the upgrades of the Cargos and Megacargos ... And the guy isn't actually a newby ! But he thought that upgrading them is makin' them stronger - yes he is but with 1 or 2 attack plus for each level ... Just pointless - so do NOT upgrade ships you won't use in the future and Cargos

Yes, i've seen the increase in attack & structure...
What i've been asking how much will it cost to upgrade ship? Is it free? How long does it take?
I've already know the cost of upgrading the factory... How about the cost upgrading the ships?
What will happen to my ship while upgrading? Will they'll be sitting ducks?
Then i have to cancel the upgrade to move them (so i need to know if there is a cost & how long the upgrade takes)
Anyway, i'll know it later in the game... Maybe by tomorrow... First i need to have Lvl 7 Market...

You don't need factory to check the upgrade time and prize ... And which factory are you talkin' about ... Robot ?

Am doing all Guardian fleet (my tactic is Fleet Save & Ninja)

I don't plan of doing any more research... My last two remaining things is get Market lvl 7 & Factory for Guardian...
Then it's all out ship building and attacking... (i'll never let my ship idle on a planet for more than 10 minutes)...
I'll alarm my mobile so every time it landed i can either attack or fleet save if am going to sleep...

What i mean is getting Guardian Ship Factory lvl 3 cost 40K metal & 15K crystal.
I presume i need my ships in that planet and click a button to upgrade them from Guardian lvl 0 to Guardian lvl 3.
Will it cost me another 40K metal & 15K crystal for the ship upgrade? (Yeh, i know, i'll see it in the game)

The reason am asking this is I have the Guardian Ship Factory null level... I'll upgrade it to lvl 3 tomorrow and get my answer
