Hi, maybe its the wrong topic, but i see it like a bug,
fieldfighters the only defence against piracy are squised like a little mosquito if it comes to battle.
let me explain.
If you look at the ships and the weapons now you have differences between laser, plasma, ion weapons.
If you take a look at the upgrades, you see that lasers you can upgrade easy and directly,
so they do more damage quickly.
but for Ion upgrades you need:
Science facility (Level 4)
Laser systems (Level 5)
Energy systems (Level 4)
and for plasma upgrades you need:
Science facility (Level 4)
Energy systems (Level 8)
Laser systems (Level 10)
Ion technologies (Level 5)
and that's the problem, the fieldfighter uses plasma weapons, so when you build them, you can only improve it if after a while later in the game, and they will be totally shooted away by speeders who are using laser guns.
then taken the armor advantages,
fieldfighters have normal armor, taken that a speeders that attack with lasers has a 100% reduction,
they always hit full damage armor bonusses doesn't matter any more then.
While the attack of plasma to light has only a 25% reduction so every armor upgrade makes the speeder even stronger.
This combined together gives the speeder such advances that you can't defence against their pirat raides because they will win every battle easy.
I think that if you want to make this game more serious, you should make a system where you need research the beam technoloy before you can build the ship, and maybe take a serious look again on what weapons what ships uses.
Also the most advanced ships, like deathstar should use the most advanced weapons like plasma in stead of ion, etc.
then ships with more advanced weapons should do more damage then laser weapons.
I think there are some unbalances in the beginning of this game, i didn't see this when i was choosing so i did spend a lot of time in building a race what i wouldn't want to play annymore, I'm realy thinking of changing race. but then i am to far behind the other players to make some sense. is it possible to change your race? starting again would cost me a top 160 position...
