Every ship in Bulfleet has a basic speed. For example the Guardian has 15000. With researches you can increase the speed of your ships. All Bonus will be added to the basic speed.
The following researches will influence the speed your ships.
J=Jet Engines 10% max lvl 16 = 160 %
H=Hyperspeed Engines 10% max lvl 15 = 150 %
I=Impulse Systems 20% max lvl 14 = 280 %
U=Ultraspeed 20% max lvl 14 = 280 %
All Bonus affect the Basic Speed so don´t add up depending on english description (D'OH)
The Calculation works as following:
CS = Current Speed
BS = Basic Speed
J / H / I / U = Level of Each Research
CS = S+(S*(((J+H)*0,1) + ((H+U)*0,2)))
If I am wrong here already - tell me. But so far - I take my huge Cargo ship with Basic Speed of 7500, I have in Total 230% Speed Bonus and so it shoudl be like 24750 Speed in Total, but my fleet screen shows a speed of 44982 for the big Cargo.
SO - WHERE IS THE ERROR ?

From the English description, DSP, I see that:
Jet Engines: With every upper level,
global speed on all ships is increased with 10%!,
so not the basic speed
Hyperspeed Engines: It gives a 10% bonus to
the speed of ships with every upper level.,
so not the basic speed
Impulse System: They increase
ships' velocity with 20% at every upper level.,
so not the basic speed
Ultraspeed: With every upper level the ships' speed is increased with 20%
from base.,
YES, basic speed

DarkIcarrus написа:QUOTE(DarkIcarrus @ Oct 7 2007, 08:10 PM) This is a good explanation... but can you describe the difference between the 4 speed categories for me? They all seem very similar.
There is no difference between them except the % speed you gain and the Ultraspeed from which you gain Base speed. I presume the creators of the game made this system of researches to balance the game ... it would be difficult to gather that much resources if they were combined in only one research. You want to build Battlecruiser or Destroyer or DS you develop Ultraspeed and Hyperspeed engines, and if you go for Bombers you need to research Impulse etc. Anyway my opinion is you need to research all speeds in the process of the game to be concurrent to other fleeters.

Well the big question is: What is the best speed per ressource ratio in developing speed of ships. And this can only be answered by getting the calculation formula. This one still is missing. Anyone has ist?

Can I tack on a noob question here:
Do all of these speed researches reduce the amount of time it takes to attack and return from different planets?
Do speed researches have an impact during combat? What impact?

The problem is very simple: the first speed % that you apply to the basic ship speed is Ultraspeed bonus. Then, at the result, you apply the sum of the other speed researches percentage. Case closed.

There is а sequence of when is time for which speed, but it is in bulgarian
click here
In Yellow - Jet engines
In Green - Impulse systems
In Red - Hyperspeed engines
In Light Blue - Ultraspeed
"ресурс" means resource
"макснато" means maximum
PS: Now I looked in the
HELP, every speed research gives bonus from base, although it`s not clearly said in the English part, but in the Bulgarian part it is said

Well, well, well... at least someone gives a little bit of advice here. Looks like the "foreigner farms" have learned to play and they are not such profitable :D:D
Maybe is time to correct that INCOMPLETE English description of the things.
Thanks for the wisdom, but still, there is a little error in that sequence: Ultraspeed 1 needs Hyperspeed 3, so first research Hyperspeed 3 and then you can research Ultraspeed 1
