You send them on an attack mission to some planet that has an inactive player with zero points. Just adjust the speed so it takes long enough. Or you can send them on a station mission to one of your distant planets, The disadvantage is that you have to know when you will be online the next time. But hey! Bulfleet is a 24/7 game
