When mining an asteroid, i have never gotten enough gas to fill a Recycler. So i sent 2 missions, each to the same position to mine the same asteroid. Only the 1st ship is able to get any gas.
can i mine the asteroid more than once?

Yep, you can astroplate an asteroid more than once. Just be aware that each time the asteroid is hit, gas is depleted. Hence, if you're not getting enough gas to fill a Recycler when they arrive, then other players must have already hit that asteroid before you. Sending multiple ships to an asteroid will deplete an asteroid faster, but you still will only get an amount of gas that is available on the asteroid.
I haven't figured it out yet, but it also appears that the resources you can gather from asteroids work similar to planets, in that you only get a certain percentage of the available gas per hit (currently set at 50% for planets).
