I have a question - if Speeder is "fast and flexible field fighter" (form in game description), then can it be used in pirating or against other pirates as a regular Field fighter?

It can't be used. Here the 'Field Fighter' is used to determine the ship's class. The ship used on pirate mission is called Field Fighter.

That's what I thought, but I think, that from the game story viewpoint, if it is basically the same ship with better engines and armor, then it should be capable of pirating also.

If the speeders become 'pirates' then the Pirate mission will become quite unbalanced and the Noxies will gain great advantage. The point is to oppose the races differences, not to give each race something like 'ultimate skill of destruction' or 'Big Fucking Gun' (thanks to Doom series).

Yes - that is perfectly understandable - superfast pirate ships woudld be too great an advantage... just pointing out the problem in game story/description

Maybe it could be solved by something like "because of increased engine size, there is not much room left for resources", and capacity could be much less than regular field fighters - then they would not have such advantage in pirating (for example 100 capacity vs normal field fighter 250).

Oooh, yes, sorry Krisa. I know the info is not good, we have made suggestion for changing it, the game masters agreed, but nothing really happened :(

There is a Thread in the Ideas and Suggestions for Discriptions to be updated and balacned, feel free to post this with what you think should go in the thread

Nothing in the game is ever updated or fixed, why bother.
If you point out a problem you are just told well that is on purpose to balance the game...
Such as low level players being farmed by piracy attacks...when told about it the moderators reply that it is to prevent big players from being invincible and that limiting attacks to 10 times a day makes it balanced for everyone...right

Let's do the math...200,000 resources with a 25% piracy rate and 10 attacks a day means that the 200,000 resources becomes just 11,262 in one day of 10 attacks. Not to mention that with most travel times I've seen so far 10 attacks is the most you could manage in 20 hours a day if you used all your ships anyways.

Now I am sure that people defending the game (There are so many ready to pounce on anyone making a critical comment, as I have seen before...I love the comment about the game being designed for people above an 80 IQ to play) will say that who would build 200 Field fighters...
Why wouldn't they? I've seen over 80 Guardians so it doesn't seem too much to build 200 FF's.

It really unbalances the early game for many people due to cowards exploiting a obvious flaw in the game. I had to restart due to a player in my system doing 10 attacks every day 'because he needed some gas'...He used more gas to attack me than he ever made from pirating my planet.

It seems that the only way to get up to a good enough level to defend yourself is to use protection a few times early on.

The game can be fun but many of the players are cowards that only attack lessor players.
Once I hit the 4k point range I had every Bulgarian player (Yes it was only them...6 of them in one day) that was twice as tough as me attack again and again.
Protection is the only way to help yourself get tougher many times.

Astro Empires is more fun so far, but it too has flaws...Alas there is no good game out there that I have found yet in the Space Empire gendre that doesn't have some large problem in playability.

I'm sure the designers tried to make a good and balanced game, but the continued deaf ear to any suggestion for improvement means that you will likely get fed up and quit. Witness the small number of player above 3k points...But I guess no one thinks it's a problem to have a 90+% churn rate for new signups.

Oh well, I guess I too will play until I too get too fed up with cowardly attacks from much bigger players.

Hey R050,

The IQ point is dull. Its a nonsense and its not true. The game can be played by anyone that want. No such restrictions :P

I will try to explain why you have been farming with FF's. Because like many other players u prefer to build defenses and there is no other way for the rest to steal ur income than the Piracy. Maybe its sounds unfair for u, but its unfair to the others, who are 2 times stronger, with strong fleet and no chance to exploit ur mines :) So here is the Piracy mission.

There are many types of game play and it should be ur problem how to defend your income. There is universal tactic called Fleet Save, that can save your fleet and your income. But except building tons of defense turrets, start building some cargos and mega cargos. Before u go offline, load all ur resources on the ships and then send'em to the nearest inactive player in the galaxy ( marked with (i) ). This will save you some troubles with the Pirates, cause when you don't have resources on ur planet, they wont attack you.

Ah yes let's discuss the fleetsave method...
It is a poor game that generally promotes a work-around as a fix to an obvious problem. AKA Fleetsave.
You shouldn't have to do a stupid tactic that makes it so that you need to plan when you MIGHT next play so that you resources come back in time for you to play. It is good that players look for the best way to work within the rule to solve individual problem, hence as you say, there are many ways to play the game.
It is not however normal to have a general policy of telling players to use a weak-work-around so they can protect against a attack type the is all but invincible...unless you like building FF's only.

I will say that i was unaware the Pirate missions could be done to anyone regardless of points involved. It doesn't sound like it is fair to me though to have a player that has 5000 points attack a player with 200 points ever. It isn't balance and we should stop trying to say it is for balance. A player that is tough enough to have alot of points should HAVE to attack people in their relative range of points. That is balance. Not saying well they wouldn't be able to attack weak players so how fair is that...geez.

But remember, there is no need to take anyone's input on how to improve a game that most here enjoy. We should just be happy they created the game, flaws and all. Geez could you imagine a software company that operated like that and never came up with a patch after releasing a product? lol.

Maybe others haven't taken this perspective, but after reading so many posts, that is the impression I get. It seems that every post is answered by someone defending the status quo, rather than acknowledging that it may be something to be looked into in the future.

Many of the posts on this board lack any tact or diplomacy. Instead it is mostly a flame way...or maybe those are the posts that get remembered the most.
Oh and the IQ below 80 post has been deleted with time due to storage space considerations, I am sure. It doesn't mean it didn't happen.

But all in all I will say that the game is a decent one and the main flaws are very apparent to all. I was just hoping they might get addressed at some point.
I just hate reading posts that go on about how the game is perfect as is after someone voices a constructive criticism.
