When someone deletes an account what happens to the resources in the planet field?

I am asking because I attacked someone and had recyclers on the way. when I looked back his planets were gone and so were the resources.

I don't know if someone else beat me to them it was just odd both left at the same time.

When a planet is destroyed the resources in the planet field don't disappear. I suppose someone else beat you to them.
