Well, I think maybe you should send your ships filled with resources to a nice tripp BEFORE you go to work or elsewhere. Set the speed to a lower percent so the ships will travel and come back at a time when you think you will be online again. Maybe they will steal some of the resources produced during the time you will be off-line, but that's about it.

Saven is the key. Just send your fleet to a dude with no defence at all on the limit of your attack range at a very low speed or send it to land on one of your colonies (or even attack your own colony, if you have no defence or satellites there). You can even have some personal life despite playing the game. It worked well for me for three or more rounds.

This is not going to work. The reason is very practical - a player in your coefficient with a vast army has less mining income. He has sacrificed his economy on behalf of his military. Such a player can lose everything in a moment of time. Internet supply failure or staying late at work can ruin his round. An yet such playing style must bring chances of survival. This is a game of war and supremacy, not an economical simulation.

The problem isn't that your idea is bad, necessarily. The problem is that you are a casual gamer, and this game is not a casual game. Having a lot of time to invest helps, and precise timing is crucial. You have to know when you will be able to log back in to meet your fleet and send it out again.
It's possible that many stop playing the game because they cannot advance, but a lot of people try rugby, too, and decide tennis is more their game. Besides, changing the game would drive away the committed players who have played round after round, and it would not be guaranteed to attract new players.
I'm not saying like it or leave it, but seriously, it might be easier to find a game that is just right for the time you have available. I myself came to this game after playing other games that were too intense for me to play well. I find BulFleet just right for me, but some will find it too hard and some will find it too easy.
By the way, satellites are for later in the game, and mostly for the purpose of researching graviton science.

Wally написа:QUOTE(Wally @ Jul 28 2007, 10:52 PM) My idea for the change to points means that players with vast armies are far LESS likely to be able to attack those without an army and give them a chance to build up as well.
so your point is putting all people who prefer war style together, let them bite each other, then after 2 or 3 month, players like you kind of economic, would get all what you want, such as high lV mines and vast of ships.
then you come back and crush all of the other one?
come on. back to the game. it's just a game, as you have said, when you pick one style you would lost some others. so you pick the economical style, then you dont have many ships. at the very beginning of the round, players attack each other from 100points. what you say.
we have scout, cargo early to keep resource safe, then go stronger step by step.
you said you dont know what the internet thing or go back, how would that ruin the game.
I tell you, before 3weeks, the keep on 6 raining days destroyed my broadband company's service, so I cannot get through the internet for 7hours, then next day I find all my ships destroyed. that's the deal, you should face that....
