I agree that your ideas are interesting... But in my opinion, it would make the game more... "static". If now the balance is increased on the attackers side in your point of view (considering that your posts are about defending), this ideas would increase the defenders side... But who knows, maybe the admins will take those into consideration and we will see some changes in the game :)

Until than, tell your ally to read this topic, it could save him until the defence will be increased:
Fleet save (SAVEN mode)

Try to read the Game Rules menu and especialy the Tactics part of it.

Other things like damage, structure and cargo hold can be find in the Techincs menu at the Ships tab; in the bottom of the page clik on the Death Star picture.
