I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the way all the players who have played for years are sat there saying "it's fine, it works great, we love it". Look, I'm a new player too, I've been playing for about two weeks... and if I get attacked again on the scale I was today, yesterday and the three days before that.... well I'm closing the window and never coming back.
The HUGE problem with the newcomers is that they don't realy bother themself to read the manual, the game rules, the F.A.Q. and many other usefull posts that can be find (not only) pinned in all subforums. This is not the kind of game that allows you to make a user, build some mines and than some defence, defence that will allow you to stay offline couple of days and come back when you will feel that you missed the game. This is a very ACTIVE game. You was attacked today, yesterday, before that and before that and... Hmm. You didn't even bother to read what was posted in this very topic, did you? You had some ships I supose... And among other kind of ships, you had a few cargos? Megacargos, maybe? Those ships can be used not only to steal resources from others with the help (or not) of a battle fleet, but to load your own resources in, just before sending your fleet toward an inactive player (i) with a lower percent of the speed - let's say you will have an 8-10 hours flight mission. This is called SAVEN MODE in the Bulfleet language. During this time, since your fleet cannot be attacked, resources left on planet(s) - almoust zero... than why should anybody attack you? When you feel that your fleet is close to land, get back to the game, gather resources from colonies (well maybe you will be stolen during the night, 'cuz your mines will produce even if your fleet is not home and you're not logged in, but all games have their maniacs...), build & research with the resources you gathered, than do again the same operation for another 6-12 hours. 30 mins up to couple of hours daily. Ofc, this won't make you a top rated player, but important is to feel good when you play the game.
"players who have played for years"... You're kidding me. Bulfleet is 2 - 2.5 years old. I'm playing it since december 2006 and still feel that the game is preety ok. Not all humans need the same time to learn something - in this case, the Bulfleet game. Some learn faster (because they have the patiente to search and read about the game, about what they want to know, they use their brain and invent tactics), some learn slower or don't have enough time to learn much and ofc, some are americans.
(instant learners, don't think about something nasty)
I'm not some newbie who can't play a game, I play/have played 15/20+ online games: I'm more then happy to be an underdog and build my way to the top.
Hmm. Realy. Well, even the very thing that you are able to play 20+ online games shows that you have not much idea what are you talking about. Bulfleet is not A GAME. Bulfleet is THE GAME, if you are playing it. No much time for other games.
But totally seriously, this game is going to drive off new players like nobody's business... the attack range is just too great.
Attack range is too great... most of this kind of games don't even have an attack range. After a couple of days of n00b protection, everybody can BANG you and make you his... "girl friend"
Nobody can possibly hope to defend themself against someone with 250% of their attack capability. And it's not even that, because you get attacked by 3/4 differnt people, so really it's over 1000% of your ability attacking you. 10 times more ships then you have - and you don't have any resources because you're under attack every 2-6 hours.
Even if they have 2,500,000 % of your attack capability, they can do nothing against you if you send your fleet away and load the resources in the cargohold. They will eat dust. Won't have any reason to attack you. The only way you can be eliminated on Bulfleet is to be attacked by Death Stars and get all of your planets destroyed. But if you managed to grow big enough to be the target of a player that has Death Stars, it means that you already know how to protect yourself from those.
PLEASE admins, think about the game [...] by making it more attractive to new players.
XS Software develops games, MMOGs, is their job to think about the game...
...(and your bank account)...
Now THAT must be a serious problem if even you have concerns about it...
Remember, veteran players - when you joined there were fewer players, and fewer people trying to take you out. Times change
When Bulfleet was launched, it was limited to 6000 players. 6000 active users building, researching and fighting, stepping on each-others, alliances with 150 players or even more, fleets of 15,000-40,000 guardians... If you are complaining about this "peaceful times", do you think that you could manage yourself among those "fewer" players from the begining?
