ALIVE specification

I have noticed, in a 'Battle Report', when you move the mouse over any particular ship (on the drop down), a spec. called 'Alive' with a number under it is shown. I have tried to find an explanation, to no avail.

Can somone explain the 'Alive' spec. and how it is calculated? Maybe point me in the 'answer' direction!

I am trying to determine the most efficient - factory upgrades, research, etc. - ways to strengthen ships before battle and after battle.

Alive means how many ship there are at that point in the battle.

Alive, this is the number of ships play at present battle round.
