What are cargoships good for?

Hi,

What sort of strategy benefits from the abilities of the cargoship?

I read that they are very important, blah blah blah, and I spent 2k metal and crystal (a lot for a newbie like me!) on one and now I don't use it.

To steal resources from enemies? Or save yours? One of the most important ships ingame :]

So if I send a cargoship on Piracy mode to a planet which I know is (i) and has no ships, the cargoship will come back with res?

Any special preerquisites?

Nope, only Field or Star fighters can be used on Piracy mode - http://help.xs-software.com/index.php?t ... &game_id=1

It's not obligatory to send attacks only to (i)'s, you can attack whoever you want to in your coefficient (if he has not vacation mode or protection). - Here you are much more information: http://help.xs-software.com/index.php?t ... &game_id=1

And it is strongly advisable to build some war ships, too .

Of course it's not logical!

If I send a cargoship on "attack" mission, would it steal resources from the stash of the defendant?

Actually, I have, of course, read the manual even before I posted here.

The thing is, I simply cannot understand the use of cargoships, and in particular, "stealing" resources with them.

It is obvious that the manuals are badly formulated and the error messages are not very useful.

By the way, I finally managed to send a ship on a mission!
I sent my cargoship in attack mode to an inactive player.

Can anyone tell me what's gonna happen? I suppose he has stationary defence and ships... The inactive player is more than 3 times my score.

Well, if the player has some defence or battle ships, your cargoship wil be destroyed... Thats why you should send some battle ships along with the cargo ones. It's good idea to make some espionage before attacking... That way you'll know how many battle ships to send on a attack mission with your cargoships so that you beat the other player and take his resources...
