i know you can send a colony ship to an enemy planes and capture it, but can you send a colony ship to an empty spot on the solar system and make a new planet? cause i dont get all of the info on colonising planets and what not.

charovna gave you the useful link ... But just in case - you got it a lil' messed up ! The colony ship is used only for the thing you want to know about ... Send it on mission Colonise to an empty spot so to create a new planet ... You can't capture nobody's planes ! It's just impossible

Yes, of course - That's what Colony ships are meant for ... A friend or an enemy
