I attempted to make 2 field fighters and 2 cargo ships at the same time, this had a total cost of 16000 metal and 12000 crystal. It seems that even though I was building them all, when construction is finished I was only given the Field Fighters. Please look into this so I do not think I am crazy.

You were given the Cargoships too... with Shipyard level 5, one cargo takes 16 minutes, so 2 cargoes will take 32 minutes to build and one field fighter takes 40 minutes, so 1:20 h to build 2... because the time between the 2 type of ships is larger than 15 minutes, first will get out of the shipyard the cargoes and then the field fighters.
The real time for each type of ship can be seen in Stats menu (Bulfleet General only), otherwise the shipyard will show the bigger time from the 2 or 3 types of ships that you put to build.

Ok, thanks, I must have gotten the ships and already sent them out by the time fighters were built ^^
Now... can anyone tell me what determines fleet speed in uni 1? I use FF and Cargos atm, and any combination of either or (100%,0%-0%,100%) will get me 24000 speed... considering fighters are supposed to be much faster, whats going on here?

If 2 or more types of ships will fly together, the speed will be given by the speed of the slowest one... in your case, the Field fighter (base 10.000) plus speed researches.

I think you should read accurately before telling someone to look for an answer they have already found.
In other words "100%-0%" FF-Cargo means all FF and ZERO or NO Cargo.. as specified by "any combination" .. zero being the lowest possible value in this situation.
SO... This means the field fighters alone with no other ships move at 24000, and all cargos no field fighters move at 24000 speed
AS WELL AS a mixture of 5 cargos and 5 field fighters moving at 24000 speed.
The ships speed are very different as listed in the ship specs, and I was curious as to know why ALL ships move at the same speed if there is a multiplier unique to every ship.
