Best ratio of resources?

I have developed resources going by whatever finished quickest, so now I have metal level 13, crystal level 12, and gas level 11. But the output in units is metal: 1963, crystal: 953, gas: 467.

What is your opinion on the optimal mix of resources (i.e. metal: 4, crystal: 2, gas: 1, etc.)? I always seem to need more crystal.

mine lvls depend on your style of play....
but at some point in the game (when you get a market lvl7) its best to invest only in M mines and also put all robots in them. You may even consider demolishing some of your C and G mines lvls to free up energy for more M mines.
If you do some maths you'll find out that becouse M mines produce more, its better to dig tons of metal and then trade it at the market for C or G....

Ah, good idea! I wondered because the exchange rate is only about 3:1 even at high levels of marketplace, but like you say, do the maths. And you have done them, so thank you!

It also depends on what kind of ships you entend to use. If it is Guardian - 20000/7000 it is best that your mines produce metal:crystals = 3:1 and so on for the other ships.

Personally, I've found out that for research and fleet you will need equal levels of C and M. You will have other expenses like spy probes, etc.

Just to clarify, by "levels," do you mean actual level numbers or output amounts? I've noticed that metal and crystal mines do not produce the same amount at the same levels numbers.

Levels of the mines, not output amounts. I have tried to always have 3:1 ratio since I was building Guardians- I did not have enough crystals to build anything else, and when I play with mines I don't like counting on recycled or stolen resources but that's my point of view. Just have in mind- crystals will be in many cases the limiting resource, especially if you research (like espionage and eneregy systems, or perhaps some kind of engine).

BTW, the output ratio for the same levels of the mines is 3:2:1 (M:C:G). That is, you get 2/3 of the metal production in crystals for the same level, and just 1/3 of the metal production in gas. Bare in mind, though, that metal has two more levels than crystals. Moreover, the highest levels of those mines don't follow the known formula, thus the ratios are not correct for the 30th leves.

Thanks, and yes, you're right -- I've already discovered that crystals are the bottneck. That's something to consider in my strategy.

Your most likely going to end up with a 3:2:1 or 2:1:1 depending on the levels of your mines/ your farms. but what you need most can usually be determined by what you need to make/upgrade/research.
